The spatial installation uses the production environment of the "Xiangyunsha (香云纱, a type of silk made in the Canton area, also called gambier canton gauze)" as the background color. Natural objects like grass, water, yam, and river mud are mixed with natural plants to simulate artificial objects. It aims to construct a network of production methods rooted in nature and silk production dating back from the rural era. In this system, the installation selects objects, images, and other information from different periods in the textile industry. It transforms them into art forms to communicate to the public. The author used the latest ChatGpt application to process the questions about this unique silk generated by the public. The installation characterizes the transformation and development of silk production derived from the agricultural age till the current digital era. The diverse use of visual materials provides another way to understand the silk - “Xiangyunsh” which broadens the general public's perception of this textile. The research-based representation dissects a critical landscape of Xiangyunsha that is listed in "UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage."
